Ex-Luigi Racing 1985 Alfa Romeo GTV6 Group A race car
Luigi Chassis No: LR8513 was built new of the production line for the 1985 season of the ESCC based on an unnumbered new style chassis (Alfa 75 floor pan) and incorporated all the development of the previous 3 seasons of GTV6 group A racing. Sitting on centre lock wheels with all the correct homologated parts including Twin caliper front brakes , Aluminium wishbones, special uprights, custom made roll bars, vented rear brakes, racing gearbox and much more.
LR8513 sponsored by Boule D’Or was campaigned throughout the 85 Season and driven by Luigi stalwarts like Francois Xavier-Boucher. The European Touring car season was a long slog Including The TT in the UK and The Spa 24hrs. It was then run in private hands in 86 at the spa 24hrs under “Videorama” sponsorship and then continuing through the eighties in various club level Belgian/French races before retiring to an enthusiast’s garage where it stayed for a couple of decades awaiting restoration that sadly didn’t come.
Roll forward to 2015 and CSR were privileged to be able to help recover LR8513 from Belgium and restore it for it present owner. The car is completely original, of all the main components only the engine was missing, Now it boasts a new CSR developed 2.5l unit putting out around 250hp@7800rpm. The car was stripped to bare shell and rebuilt with a new motorsport wiring loom and all parts restored to as raced condition for the rigors of modern historic motorsport.
LR8513 has been raced as intended by its owners at UK’s Racing Legends touring car races and has returned to race at Spa. Its a reliable and potentially fast Group A in its class and is a great piece of Alfa Romeo’s racing heritage.
